The Chairman and Directors of Highworth Recreation Centre (2012) invite all residents of Highworth and the surrounding villages to our AGM to be held on 18th June in the Council Chamber Gilberts Lane at 7.30pm.
This is your opportunity to find out how the Centre is performing and about the hopes and aspirations to take the centre forward.
Joining the Board of Trustees
The Trustees/Directors meet regularly to receive reports about the progress of the centre and provide leadership, advocacy, influence, strategic direction and governance. They will play a key role in any negotiations about the future arrangements for the management of the centre.
The Board is particularly keen to recruit individuals with a mixture of backgrounds and experience including finance, sport and leisure, marketing and fundraising and those working with young people and people with disabilities.
Becoming a Member
The members of the charitable company are like the ‘shareholders’ of the charity. They represent the people of Highworth who own the land, the pool and parts of the recreation centre buildings. The board of the Charitable Company invites individual residents and representatives of organisations in Highworth to become members of the Company and Charity and help support this valuable asset to our community.
The role of members is to hold the Charitable Company to account and to help the Board set and deliver the vision for the future of the Rec.
If you are interested and would like more information or to have an informal conversation, please leave your details at the centre and one of the Trustees will get in touch with you.
This is your centre – help decide its future
Highworth Recreation Centre is jointly owned by a charitable trust on behalf of Highworth people and by the local authority. The future of the centre’s management will be decided in the next few months as part of the review of Swindon Borough Council’s Leisure facilities currently being conducted.
We are looking for local people to help make these decisions and safeguard this legacy for the future on behalf of the people of Highworth.
